In our latest blog post, we share how Campbell & Haliburton Insurance supports North Central Family Centre. Campbell & Haliburton Insurance is a locally owned Regina insurance broker. We are proud to be present in the same city that we started in 1957! We are also happy to be a part of the Regina community, as we believe this is one of the most important values of our company. Further, we are a certified SGI Regina insurance broker, know the importance of selling an insurance policy, and educating each customer.
myCH.ca Supports North Central Family Centre
The North Central Family Centre (NCFC) in Regina provides programs, activities and services in a supportive and safe environment to children, families, and seniors. These programs and services build self-esteem, self-confidence, and enhance their quality of life. Today, more young men and women need help as they move from adolescence to adulthood. Therefore, NCFC offers a range of programs to help them become productive members of society!
In October 2021, we shared the news that our president John Grant was the recipient of the Association of Fundraising Professionals – South Saskatchewan Chapter, 2021 Outstanding Community Partner Award! Sandy Wankel, founder of the North Central Family Centre, supported his nomination. Here were Wankel’s thoughts on John as a deserving recipient:
“To state that John Grant has made a difference to North Central Family Centre would be a huge understatement. John Grant’s personal commitment and dedication to our youth and families, and to the community is beyond measure. John’s long-term commitment and investment in NCFC will have lasting impact for generations to come, and is making a tremendous difference in improving the quality of life for many residents in Regina’s North Central. North Central Family Centre is a registered non-profit charitable organization offering wrap-around programs and services in a supportive environment to children, youth families and Elders.”
The commitment to support the NCFC is an ongoing one and it is important to our staff. In the picture above, Daryl Arendt (Campbell & Haliburton Insurance, Office Manager) is presenting a cheque of the money. Arendt raised this from his participation in the 2021 Queen City Marathon. Campbell & Haliburton matched all money raise!
myCH.ca Commitment to North Central Family Centre
The NCFC’s commercial kitchen had been shut down by the city inspectors in 2017. This limited the use of the facility for the center. Historically, NCFC utilized it for job training. This helped people obtain jobs in the restaurant industry. Further, it helped people get their food safety certifications, make food for the after school programs, and for the community.
NCFC asked if we could help navigate through the approval process with the city, as to get the necessary permits to operate the kitchen again. We called on Jim Baiton from our very own Canadiana Foods, alongside his long-term kitchen mechanical expert, Galen. Galen repaired everything, which totaled $16,730. He also donated many hours of his time with no charge. Campbell & Haliburton paid the remaining $15,730 and Galen kindly reduced the invoice by $1,000 as his contribution. NCFC now has a kitchen fully up to code and approved by the City of Regina!
North Central Family Centre’s Advisory Committee
Campbell & Haliburton Insurance’s President, John Grant, is on the NCFC advisory committee. Grant was responsible for putting together a fundraiser to purchase two new passenger vans for NCFC!
